When I was 19 or 20 and completely unsure of what kind of novels I wanted to write, John Irving was a tremendous inspiration to me. I remember being enthralled by Garp, among other characters.
As always, best in writing, and I'm sure John is tired of hearing this, but my thanks to him for the inspiration all those years ago!
Great interview. These were questions I'd want to ask. He's been a big influence on my writing for so many years. I watched him on Bonnie's show yesterday, but you can't compare the two. You did a top-notch job. Thanks.

Fascinating interview. I have always enjoyed his books! We should all hope we look as good at 67 as he does!
