Affirmations To Write By

It’s perfectly fine if my draft isn’t terrific today. Tomorrow, I will fix all the weaknesses and make it as good as possible.

If I stay in the chair and stick with it, I know my writing will turn out right in the end.

My writing is strong enough to deserve high pay, or at least fair pay. I shouldn’t settle for less.

I should always trust my writing instincts and stop occasionally listening to that negative voice in my head.

I need to have discipline and stick to my writing schedule, doing it every day even if it’s only for 15 minutes.

Affirmations to Write By

I can write. I know it. And I dare someone to convince me otherwise.

I will know more about the writing craft tonight than I did when I woke up this morning.

My writing voice is powerful and clear and has the ability to touch people.

The right words are all around me and I know I will find them within time.

Reading great writing is research. It’s also inspiration and motivation.

Affirmations to Write By

I am in charge of my own writing destiny. I know that if I work hard at the craft, put in the necessary hours, that I will succeed in reaching my dreams as a writer.

Creativity flows through me so easily, so effortlessly, so endlessly, that it makes me giggle sometimes.

I cannot only see stories in my head, but I can see them being written and being published in beautiful layouts.

I never talk about writer’s block or any such negative things. All is nothing but utter silliness, unnecessary man-made distractions. Instead, I talk about loving the adventure of the process, even if the terrain occasionally gets a little scary.

I am a talented writer. I know this. I know this without bravado or ego or self-delusion. But I do know this.

Affirmations To Write By

My perspective is so unique that I need to share it with the world.

Each day I make it my business to remove barriers called self-doubt and fear.

I am never afraid to try something in my writing. Experimentation is part of who I am as a creative being.

I was not created to fail; I was created to succeed. Success is a part of who I am and a part of everything about me.

Writing helps me better understand the world around me and my writing will help others do the same.

Affirmations to Write By

Inspiration is a treasured gem to be admired and carried within me every day.

Mistakes are simply part of the trial-and-error creative process.

Even the greatest writers have, at times, felt like failures. So I never feel that I’m alone.

I never find excuses to not write, but always find reasons to get started.

I love writing because it helps me discover new things about myself that I would never have discovered any other way.

Affirmations to Write By

I allow myself plenty of time for my writing projects, no matter what.

I write clearly and effectively and easily.

I make writing a priority.

I love that writing has a way of making me feel so fulfilled and at peace with myself.

I understand my needs as a writer and I do everything possible to meet those needs.

I know my deadline and I organize my life in order to make myself hit that deadline.

I know that when I revise my work it gets better and better.

I use my outline to guide me as I write, but I allow myself to be inspired outside the boundaries of my outline.

I use a dictionary, thesaurus, and other important tools to help me write well.

I read works by writers whom I admire, not only as a way to inspire but to show me the way to greatness.

Stay Positive!

As many of you already know, I’m a big believer in staying positive and running as fast as I can from sucking-all-the-air-out-of-the-room negativity.

I don’t like hearing the phrase “writer’s block” said in my presence; don’t like listening to writers whining constantly about bad editors, bad editing, or nasty rejection letters.

If we are to succeed as writers and enjoy the fruits of artistic fulfillment, we must fight through all these temporary setbacks, all these trivialities, all these minor inconveniences.

We need to stay strong and inspired and spiritedly creative. We need to believe in who we are as writers and what we have to say in our work.

So repeat after me:

I am a good writer getting better every day.

I am strong enough to fight the hard fight of the publishing world.

I believe in my words, no matter what anyone says.

I will not let distractions bother me.

I will continue to write my heart and my soul, and I will make it as a writer in the face of all the odds against me.

Got it? You better. Or else I’m running from you like a sprinter bursting off the blocks.

Best always and, yes, stay positive,

Mike

Affirmations to Write By

I’m exceedingly disciplined and therefore allow myself plenty of time for writing projects.

I think about my writing projects even when I am not actively working on them and take notes about those thoughts when they arise.

I’m very organized and use a form of outlining that works best for me, using my outline to guide me through my work but still allowing myself to be inspired outside its boundaries.

I understand my needs as a writer, making sure they are met, but I am constantly reassessing those needs and changing them.

I find a congenial, relaxing place to write, allowing my ideas to flow easily.

I make sure to make writing a priority, refusing to give into procrastination.

I think writer's block is a silly phrase, since I always have something to say and often too many ideas to write them down in only one session.

I pace myself as a writer, allowing myself times to refill my creative cup.

I use a dictionary, thesaurus, and other tools to help me write well.

I read works by writers whom I admire, which inspires me as well as allows me to see, through careful study, their greatness.
